Mindfulness for Corporations
Mindfulness offers distinct benefits to the individual, which translates to benefits for the team and the corporation.
Three reasons to invest in mindfulness for your corporation.
A study by the American Psychological Association examined the effects of meditation memory. Over eight weeks, one group meditated regularly while another followed normal protocol. When both groups faced high-stress environments, the non-meditating group showed decreased working memory over time, whereas the meditating group maintained stable memory.
A Harvard study found that employees who went through an eight-week mindfulness training program were able to make faster and more attention-based adjustments, making them better decision-makers in fast-paced environments.
A 2018 study by the University of California, Davis, found that intensive meditation training improves attention and cognition, leading to better problem-solving, decision-making, critical thinking, and crisis management skills.
How many of us live a short distance from our body, never or very rarely connecting internally?
Mindfulness training is not just a process; it's a journey of self-discovery and personal growth. It provides a roadmap for re/discovering oneself, a path leading us to a deeper understanding of our breath, body, and thoughts.
In a corporate setting, the practice of Mindfulness offers tangible benefits to the individual, which translates to improved team dynamics and overall organizational performance. This training fosters self-awareness, enabling each person to bring their best self to the organization.
By cultivating a mindful approach, individuals will:
Better stress management
Improved focus and concentration
Enhanced interpersonal skills
At an organizational level, this is a two-tiered process.
Tier One is for supervisors. This tier offers supervisors tools for mindful communication to motivate their team members to be their best selves.
Tier One
Tier Two is for team members. This tier offers team members tools to practice mindfully responding rather than reacting to challenging situations with teammates and supervisors.
Tier Two
Learning to be more self-aware allows us to notice when we are triggered. We learn to pause, step back, and internally examine the automatic 'reaction.' Learning these steps gives us the space to be aware of the trigger and 'respond' skillfully. With this awareness, there is a much greater possibility for skillful communication. Skillful communication fosters a safe environment, which allows for greater productivity.
Mindfulness training extends beyond the workplace; it's a personal journey that positively influences all aspects of our lives. By paying attention to our 'inner' life (body and mind), we can improve our 'outer' life (at home and work), leading to a more balanced and fulfilling existence.
We all know that if a person's home life is stable, they can bring all of themselves and be fully present for the job.
